Iran’s short documentary ‘Asho’ has been awarded in the 2020 edition of DOQUMENTA International Documentary Film Festival in Mexico.
‘Asho’ received the International Short Film Jury award in the Mexican festival, local media reports said on Monday.
Directed by Jafar Najafi, the documentary is about a shepherd boy called “Asho”, who is fond of Hollywood movies and is dreaming of becoming an actor.
Earlier reports said the film had grabbed the Best Short Film award at the Film Festival Della Lessinia (FFDL) in Italy.
Last year, the film won the Award for Best Children’s Documentary in the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) in the Netherlands.
DOQUMENTA “aims to open and offer diverse spaces and venues to showcase documentary films in Queretaro, Mexico”, an online submission platform reads.
